clue #3

here it is finaly.


Cut five 1 ½” by WOF. strips from color  #1 dark

Cut four 1 ½” strips from color #3 dark

Set 1: Sew two sets with this sequence #1,#3,#1

Set2: And one set with this sequence #3, #1, #3

Sub cut into 1 ½” pieces. 16 of set 2 and 32 of set 1

Sew into sixteen 9 patches.

The 9 patches will be 3 ½” square and they will finish at 3” square

Clue 2


 

 

 

Traditional piecing:

Cut 32 squares  2 7/8 of dark colour #3 cut from one corner to the other to form 2 triangles from one square. You should have 64 large triangles.

 Cut 32 3 ¼” dark color #1 squares and cross cut them so one square forms 4 triangles. You should have 128 small triangles

Sew small triangles to one edge of the large triangle press open sew triangle to other edge to form flying geese and press.

Make 64 flying geese.

Sew 4 together into a strip making 16 strips.

Units will look like this.
But all the geese will be the same colour.

My Fabric selections for the mystery Quilt

This is my first set the fabrics are in the order listed on the fabric yardage list.
I am making this quilt in 2 color ways. the top one in the momma said sew line from Moda and some Kona solids and the bottom one is mostly Camolot from Jason Yenter with Kona for the background and some Kauphman fabric

1st clue

So the next step after you have your fabric is to make half sqare triangles


Cut 20 squares 3 7/8 of med color#2

Cut 20 squares 3 7/8" of med/dark colour#1

Cut 40 squares 3 7/8" background


make 40 Hst's of colour #2 and background and 40 of color #1and background they should finish at
 3 1/2" square.




 

Use this method of making half square triangles or one you prefer.

Draw a line on the back side of your background square from corner to corner.

Layer one coloured square with one background square right sides together.

Sew a seam ¼ inch from the line on each side of the line.

Cut on drawn line.

 Press open to form half square triangle.

Trim off dog-ears to make 3 ½” square.

Colour #1 dark -1/2yard

colour #1 med/dark - 3/8yard

Colour #2 med 3/8yard

Colour #2 light 7/8yard (sashing)

Colour #3 dark 3/4yard

Colour #3 med/dark 1/8 yard or 1/4 if fussy cut

Background 1 1/8 yard

Border 2 yards
